The SECB Supervisory Committee, headed by HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz the SCTH President, has recently endorsed the rules and procedures for organizing conferences and commercial exhibitions, with the aim of advancing and expanding this growing industry in Saudi Arabia.
These rules and procedures comply with the directions and instructions of the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Commerce & Investment, Ministry of Labor and Social Development, Saudi Commission for Tourism & national Heritage and the Saudi Customs. These rules & procedures are based on high professional and technical standards aiming at quality, just and fair competition among the organizers of conferences and commercial exhibitions, and encouraging them to invest in Saudi Arabia.
Licenses for organizing conferences and commercial exhibitions are electronically issued via the SECB portal (www.secb.gov.sa), hence saving time and effort, as well as creating a comprehensive database for conferences and commercial exhibitions in the kingdom.
Annual plans for organizing conferences and commercial exhibitions have been cancelled, so as to allow licensing all year round, as long as an application is submitted at least 180 days prior to the event. There is a list of penalties and punishments for committed violations in these events.
The SECB calls upon all conferences and exhibitions organizers in Saudi Arabia to review these new rules and regulations, and emphasises the importance of early planning and conducting feasibility studies before applying for a license.
